Beginning Fall 2023, our new waiver process will allow students to complete an annual waiver instead of a new waiver being required at the start of each semester.

The Fall 2023 waiver/enrollment portal will be available 7/5/2023 - 9/7/2023. This means that your approved waiver for Fall 2023 would be valid to waive coverage from 8/1/2023 - 7/31/2024. Once the portal is open, enrolled students can either waive or activate the CU Anschutz Student Health Insurance Plan by visiting https://www.studentenroll.anthem.com/school/cuanschutz.

While all eligible students are automatically enrolled in SHIP with coverage beginning August 1st by registering for classes, there is an administrative hold with Anthem Student Advantage until after the waiver portal closes on September 7th. In order to access or utilize your student insurance coverage prior to the waiver portal closing, students can visit the new Anthem Student Advantage site listed above and follow the prompts to activate your coverage immediately on/after 7/5/2023 (depending on when you enroll for Fall courses).

Dental benefits are included, and no longer require an opt-in form or additional cost.

No. As of 8/1/2023, the Fall waiver is valid to waive Fall, Spring and Summer coverage. A new waiver is not needed each semester.

*Summer waivers are only required for newly enrolled students (student beginning their course of study in a Summer term) You will not be required to submit a waiver during Summer semesters.

Once your waiver is approved, it may take up to 5-10 business days from the date you receive your approval for the fee to be removed from your account. If you have already paid your tuition and fees in full, then you will receive a refund for the full amount of the student insurance fee.

Yes, if you have already paid your tuition and fee in full prior to submitting your waiver, then once your waiver is approved you will receive a full refund in the amount of the SHIP fee. It may take up to 5-10 business days after receiving your waiver approval for the fee to be refunded.

We understand that student employees intending to utilize the CU Tuition Assistance Benefit are not able to register for courses until the first day of classes. This can be tricky to navigate since the waiver portal takes 1-2 business days after registering for courses to recognize your student information. If you are an employee enrolled in a CU Health Plan, please reach out to our office directly and we will assist with manually waiving your student insurance fee each semester upon verifying your coverage with the CU Health Plan team. (Please provide your student ID, employee ID, and full name in your email.)
