Frequently Asked Questions

No. As of 8/1/2023, the Fall waiver is valid to waive Fall, Spring and Summer coverage. A new waiver is not needed each semester.  

*Summer waivers are only required for newly enrolled students (student beginning their course of study in a Summer term)  You will not be required to submit a waiver during Summer semesters.

Once your waiver is approved, it may take up to 5-10 business days from the date you receive your approval for the fee to be removed from your account.  If you have already paid your tuition and fees in full, then you will receive a refund for the full amount of the student insurance fee.  

Yes.  The Summer waiver is valid for 06/01-07/31 and a new waiver will be required for the Fall semester.  When the Fall waiver/enrollment period begins, you will be automatically enrolled into the CU Anschutz SHIP unless a new waiver is submitted at that time. 

Yes, if you have already paid your tuition and fee in full prior to submitting your waiver, then once your waiver is approved you will receive a full refund in the amount of the SHIP fee.  It may take up to 5-10 business days after receiving your waiver approval for the fee to be refunded.  

There is no longer a waiting period for the CU Tuition Assistance Benefit. Upon enrollment in an eligible course, the waiver portal will be available within 3-5 business days. If you see the fee on your account for longer than 5 business days and are still unable to access the waiver portal, please our office for assistance.

Dental coverage is included with the student insurance, at no additional premium cost.

Coverage begins August 1 and ends July 31. The premiums for medical coverage includes dental at no additional cost.

As of 8/1/2023, all students who opt into the SHIP coverage will have dental as well. It is no longer separated from the medical insurance. No additional enrollment or opt out forms are required.
