The Student Health Promotion Committee is a group of students working to make CU Anschutz a healthier place to be. We plan events, start new projects, and speak up for what students actually need. Every school and every program is welcome.

What We Do

We meet every week to figure out what students need and then go build it. Some of it is small and practical. Some of it turns into a campus-wide program. Recent projects include:

  • Healthy Vending. Getting better food options into the machines students actually use.
  • Free Fitness Classes. Workouts on campus that do not cost anything and fit around class.
  • Mental Health Lunch And Learns. Short sessions where students can talk about stress and burnout without it being a big production.

You do not need a background in public health or a finished idea to join. Most projects start as somebody in the room saying that something on campus should work better.

Two Ways To Join

EASIEST WAY

Just Come To A Meeting

No sign-up, no commitment, and no need to tell anyone you are coming. Show up, see what we are working on, and decide from there. You can come to one meeting and never come back, and that is completely fine.

Fill Out The Interest Form

Give us your email and we will send you meeting reminders and upcoming events. This is a good option if the meeting time does not work for you right now but you still want to know what is happening.

Filling out the form does not sign you up for anything. You can unsubscribe whenever you want.

Why Students Join

  • Build Your Resume

Real projects with real results you can point to in an interview or an application.

  • Lead Something

Run a project, plan an event, or take charge of an idea you brought to the group.

  • Use What You Are Learning

Take the coursework in your program and apply it to a problem on your own campus.

  • Meet People Outside Your Program

Nursing, medicine, pharmacy, dental, public health, and the graduate school all sit at the same table.

  • Shape The Campus

Tell Student Affairs what students need. This committee is one of the ways that message gets through.

  • Have Fun

It is an hour a week with people who are glad to see you. That counts for something.

Another Way To Connect

The BRIDGE Network. Want to build friendships outside the committee too? BRIDGE puts you in a small group of students from across CU Anschutz schools and programs. Your group meets one hour a week for three weeks, led by peer facilitators and trained staff, and finishes with a meal together. See this term's cohort dates.
