We have heard your feedback and are working to improve the network connectivity across campus. With the success of updating the Education Buildings, Fulginiti Pavilion and Skaggs School of Pharmacy earlier in 2023, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) moved forward with additional Wi-Fi updates across the campus this past fall. Partnered with our vendor, we completed work on replacing aging equipment to enhance Wi-Fi performance in additional buildings across the campus.
Round 0 of the Implementation Phase has been completed and 6 rooms have been updated to meet the standards of the Hybrid Technology Improvement Project. We are now starting Round 1 in this phase which includes the upgrades for 22 classrooms and conference rooms that have been identified. Work on these 22 rooms will begin fall 2023.
OIT is planning on conducting failover testing of the North Classroom Data Center on Sunday, July 30th. This is an estimated 8-hour testing window from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm to evaluate system backup processes and remediate any issues that present. To test these processes, we will be simulating a network outage, but no power or devices will actually be turned off.
CU Anschutz and CU Boulder celebrated a milestone this summer during a cross-campus gathering highlighting the significant advances made in high-performance computing (HPC) within the CU system. This integration of staff and expertise from both the Boulder and Anschutz campuses is a critical piece in advancing science and innovation.
The UIS data center move to CU Anschutz is scheduled to begin at noon on Friday, Oct. 6, through 8 a.m. on Monday, Oct 9. Multiple teams from OIT and Information Security and IT Compliance (ISIC) are working closely with UIS and our IT partners across both campuses to determine the systems and services that will be impacted.
