Advancing Digital Accessibility at CU Anschutz
Tarah Dykeman | Information Strategy and Services, CU Anschutz Nov 18, 2025
Over the past year, CU Anschutz has made meaningful progress in advancing digital accessibility across our campus. From expanding our resources and training to increasing our engagement and accessibility scores for websites and course materials, these efforts reflect our shared commitment to creating a digital environment with equal access for all. As we celebrate these achievements, it’s important to stay informed about how we can continue to meet the requirements of Colorado’s Accessibility Law (HB21-1110) and build on the momentum we’ve created together.
How to Comply with Colorado’s Accessibility Law (HB21-1110)
CU Anschutz follows a multifaceted approach to compliance:
- Proactively provide accessible digital content and information and communication technology (ICT) that meets established technical standards.
- Provide reasonable accommodations or modifications upon request.
- Demonstrate ongoing progress in accessibility efforts.
Remember to focus on progress over perfection in your accessibility efforts. Create a plan for making your digital content accessible, continuously work toward these goals, and ensure people with disabilities can easily request assistance.

Upcoming ADA Title II Rule
A new rule under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires public universities to make their web content and mobile applications accessible to people with disabilities by April 24, 2026. The new rule aligns with Colorado's Accessibility Law (HB21-1110). Continue to follow the digital accessibility guidance and requirements outlined for our campus, focusing on progress over perfection in your accessibility efforts.
We thank you for your continued commitment to making CU Anschutz a more accessible campus. Your efforts are vital to our shared mission of community and excellence.
