Effective April 24, 2026
A new rule under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires state and local governments, including public universities, to make their web content and mobile applications accessible to people with disabilities by meeting the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards. This means universities must ensure that all digital content, including websites, online courses, and administrative systems, is usable by individuals with disabilities. The compliance deadline for this rule is April 24, 2026.
The new ADA Title II rule aligns with Colorado's Accessibility Law (HB21-1110).
