BioRender is a web-based program that helps you create scientific figures up to 50x faster than traditional tools. The tool combines a library of more than 50,000 scientifically accurate, expert-validated life science icons and templates with intuitive drag-and-drop functionality. Welcome to BioRender

Create professional-quality figures in minutes with BioRender - no drawing skills required! BioRender is available for CU Anschutz and CU Denver faculty, staff and students for half the commercial cost through a new CU Anschutz campuswide license.


With BioRender

  • Create figures for all your visual needs like your publications, posters, and presentations
  • Pair figures with data collected from your experiments
  • Communicate your research at the next level


To Access

The cost is $190 / year and is not prorated; licensing begins on July 1 of each year. The software license is linked to your university credentials and cannot be shared. Please have your department speedtype ready to complete the request. Licenses cannot be purchased with a procurement card. 

  • Log in to the OIT Service Center at https://servicecenter.oit.ucdenver.edu/CherwellPortal/IT using your university credentials
  • After you are logged in, select Make a Request
  • In the service catalogue, select Software and Applications and then select BioRender
  • Request a new license by selecting New and complete the form
  • Click Submit Order

Note: If you would like to cancel your license, please select Disconnect and complete the form.

This software runs from any web browser; however, your best experience will be with the Chrome browser. No software needs to be installed on any computer.

In this one-hour webinar, learn actionable tips and techniques for designing science figures for your posters, presentations, publications and more. A brief introduction to BioRender is given followed by a live demonstration of the platform showcasing some basic as well as advanced capabilities, including our new PowerPoint Add-In and Graphing Functionality.

  • Thursday, June 6, from 10 - 10:30 am - Better Posters with Bio Render

Learn actionable tips and techniques for designing research posters. You'll also learn how to quickly create individual figures for your poster, including experimental methods and biological pathways, with an introduction to the BioRender software.

  • Thursday, June 20, from 10 - 10:30 am - Create Grant Figures Worthy of Funding

Learn actionable tips and techniques for designing clear science figures for journal publications, including:

  • Focusing on Clarity over Beauty
  • Improving Layout and Story Flow
  • Using Text and Labels for Clarity
  • Smart Use of Alignment and Spacing
  • How to Use Color and Opacity as a Highlighter
