Grammarly for Education is an enterprise agreement that allows university faculty, staff and students to utilize the Grammarly tool at a discounted rate. Grammarly is a real-time communication assistant that works across many applications to assist users with grammar and usage, phrasing and readability, spelling and more.

Grammarly is available for purchase through the OnTheHub Software Store at a discounted rate for university users. 

The university's enterprise instance is the only version of Grammarly (free or paid) that is approved to be used with university data and information. All other instances are not compliant with university IT security and compliance policies or requirements.

Grammarly for Education is a real-time communication assistant that works across many applications to assist users with grammar and usage, phrasing and readability, spelling and so much more.  This tool can be used with applications such as Microsoft 365 Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) as well as most browsers (Edge, Chrome, Firefox, etc.) and university applications like Canvas.

Instructions for NEW Grammarly users

Use this process if you do NOT already have a Grammarly account associated with your university email. 

Process

  1. Requests a license through the OnTheHub Software Store.
  2. Complete your order and you will receive an email from the Software Store with additional instructions. 
  3. You will also receive an activation email from Grammarly.com. 
  4. The email directs you to log into Grammarly.com  (hover over the link with your cursor before clicking to verify link destination).
  5. You will be automatically redirected to the university's Single Sign On (SSO).
  6. Enter your university credentials.
  7. Once logged in, your new Grammarly license is active. 

Information for existing Grammarly users 

Use this process if you previously had a free or paid Grammarly account associated with your university-provided email before the university acquired enterprise Grammarly licensing.

You must migrate your personal Grammarly account into the university’s enterprise Grammarly system to use it for university work or learning OR change the email address associated with it to keep it for personal use only and no longer use it with university information. The university enterprise license is the only instance of Grammarly that is secure and compliant to use with university information. 

Process 

  1. Request a license through OnTheHub Software Store.
  2. Complete your order and you will receive an email from the Software Store with additional instructions. 
  3. An invitation is sent from the Grammarly admin console to your university email. 
  4. Click the invitation link, which sends you to Grammarly.com (hover over the link with your cursor before clicking to verify link destination). 
  5. Select Log In, enter your university email, and log in using your existing Grammarly password. 
  6. You will see a prompt inviting you to join the University of Colorado Grammarly account. 
  7. Accept the invitation and it will license your account with the university's enterprise instance.
  8. You will be redirected to the university's Single Sign On (SSO). 
  9. Enter your university credentials.
  10. Once logged in, your account is fully migrated and licensed.
