| The University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus remains committed to providing access to all qualified students, including students under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Advancing Students for a Stronger Economy Tomorrow (ASSET) programs. ASSET, DACA, Mixed Family Status, and Undocumented Students are valuable members of our student body whom we strive to ensure are safe and respected on our campus. The mission of the CU Anschutz Medical Campus Undocumented Student Services is to advocate and serve DACA/ASSET, Mixed-Family Status, and Undocumented Students. Our office is dedicated to increasing access to health careers, supporting students in achieving their degrees, and creating an equitable educational environment. We do this by:

| Steps for Successful Admission at CU Anschutz for ASSET/DACA/Undocumented Students |
Step 1. Apply to desired program at CU Anschutz. All programs at CU Anschutz have a different admission process. It is important to contact your program’s admissions office directly when applying. During the application process, majority of programs admission forms have the following: Under Citizenship Information, click the check mark next to “I am DACA, undocumented, Deferred Enforced Departure, or Temporary Protected Status” Asylee/Refugee/Other: Only if you're currently living in the U.S. can you choose this option. If you are unsure of which visa type you will need, please select F-1 in the drop-down box (I am DACA, undocumented, Deferred Enforced Departure, or Temporary Protected Status). Step 2. Apply for Financial Aid & Scholarships and COF (October 1st) Undergraduate students may qualify to receive Colorado Student Grant and graduate students may qualify to receive Colorado Graduate Grant​. ASSET students who also have DACA status may be eligible for Colorado Work-study. Graduate Students: Apply to Colorado State Financial Aid Form (CASFA) by clicking here. Nursing Undergraduate Students: Apply to Colorado State Financial Aid Form (CASFA) AND apply to COF by clicking here. After completing the CASFA form, the Financial Aid Office will review email you to let you know what aid you qualify for. For more information click here. Step 3. Apply for ASSET Status Students who qualify for ASSET do not automatically qualify for DACA, and vice versa. A student may qualify for one but not the other, qualify for both, or qualify for neither. Yes, in our decision process, we base selection on an applicant's academic and personal readiness for success at CU Anschutz. Citizenship is not a factor.
ASSET: Advancing Students for a Stronger Tomorrow (ASSET) allows eligible undocumented students to pay in-state tuition at Colorado's public colleges and universities and receive the College Opportunity Fund Stipend. Students who attend a Colorado high school for at least 3 years and graduated from a Colorado high school may qualify for ASSET. DACA: Students who hold a status of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and can demonstrate Colorado domicile may be considered for an in-state tuition rate. For information on establishing a Colorado domicile, please visit our Residency Page. Undocumented: An undocumented student is any non-U.S. Citizen or Non-Permanent Resident living in the United States without a valid non-immigrant visa. This is different from being an international student living outside of the U.S. applying for a student visa or living inside the U.S. in possession of a visa.
Your personal information is safe. The information you share with us about yourself and about your family is protected by the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). This federal law protects applicants and current students from having their personal information shared.
Limits to financial aid and scholarship eligibility may be the biggest impact on your status. State legislation allows us to grant in-state tuition classification to qualified undocumented students in Colorado through the ASSET program. To be considered, Colorado students must submit the statewide COF application, CASFA, and institutional ASSET eligibility form.
