FOSTERING A RESILENT CU ANSCHUTZ
The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) at CU Anschutz plays a critical role before, during, and after emergencies and disasters. While our goal is to reduce the likelihood and impact of incidents whenever possible, not all emergencies can be prevented. Through proactive planning and risk reduction efforts, we work to minimize potential impacts to the campus community.
A significant portion of our work focuses on preparedness. We collaborate closely with campus partners to develop and maintain emergency plans, conduct training, drills, and exercises, and provide outreach and education that promotes emergency awareness and personal preparedness across the campus.

When an emergency or disaster occurs, Emergency Management serves as the central coordination function for the University, helping to align response efforts, facilitate communication, and support decision-making. As incidents transition from response to recovery, we continue to coordinate continuity efforts to sustain critical operations and support the campus community's return to normal operations. Long-term recovery activities are coordinated with campus leadership and other relevant stakeholders to ensure a resilient and effective recovery process.
