Hello!
Welcome to the self-guided public art tour of the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (CU Anschutz). This route will highlight selected art works that have been publicly financed, donated, or of significance to the university.
Each work is numbered on the map. You may complete the entire 1.77 mile loop or visit each work individually. The title of each artwork will be shown to the right of its number below. You can hit the expand button (the plus sign) to the right of the artwork title to view a photo of the piece and learn more about it.
The tour begins at the eastern end of the Corpus Callosum sculpture. Please stand between the sculpture and the School of Dental Medicine Building facing west (towards the Nighthorse Campbell Native Health Building and the mountains).
Please continue walking west along the southern side of the 17th Place Art Walk. This green space serves as a campus backbone that connects the Education and Research Quads. Cross over Aurora Court. After you pass the School of Dental Medicine and the parking lot on your left, please turn left at the next stone building and continue down the path. Please stop at the arbor structure and look at the Ben Nighthorse Campbell Native Health Building.
Please continue south past the Nighthorse Campbell Building towards Children’s Hospital Colorado. Turn right on 17th Avenue towards the UC Health University of Colorado Hospital and then right on Aurora Court towards the Fitzsimons Building. As you walk around the Nighthorse Campbell Building to your right you can view and appreciate the native influences in the building’s design.
When you reach the south side of the 17th Place Art Walk turn left and cross over Aurora Court. After walking under the skybridge that connects the two Research 1 Buildings, turn left at the curved oval path. Please follow the loop around the natural plantings and the next artwork will be on your right.
When you return to the Art Walk, please turn left and head towards the glass clad Anschutz Health Sciences Building. Please walk past the building and turn right on Revere Court and enter the building through its West Entrance.
Once through the doors, pass the visitor’s desk and proceed to the building’s atrium. Please head towards the south side of the building where you will see the next piece of art to the right of the entrance to T Street Grill.
Please exit through the south doors of the Anschutz Health Sciences Building and turn left to walk on the northern side of the 17th Place Art Walk. Please continue under the Research 1 skybridge and keep walking towards Aurora Court. Please continue to Aurora Court and turn left to access the main entrance to the Fitzsimons Building.
Please walk through the doors and enter the Fitzsimons Building’s ground floor lobby. As you look up you will see the next artwork.
Turn left past the visitor’s desk and you will see the next piece of art on your left by the windows in front of the entrance to the Advancement Office.
Please turn back towards the entrance to the Fitzsimons Building and turn left past the elevators and continue walking down the hall through the back entrance of the building. Please cross East 19th Avenue and turn left down the sidewalk on the south side of the Ignacio Parking Lot. Turn right at the entrance to the parking lot and right when you see the Skaggs School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Continue past the Skaggs School and turn left when you reach the brick plaza. This is the Student Commons. In front of the Skaggs School is the next artwork.
Please continue down the path keeping the Skaggs School to your left. You will soon see the next artwork ahead to your right.
Face away from the Skaggs School towards the Strauss Health Sciences Library. Walk towards the Library and turn right walking back towards the Fitzsimons Building. Please continue down the path and keep the Library to your left. Turn left once you pass the library and then turn right once you reach the sidewalk at the edge of the Frisco Parking Lot.
Please cross 19th Avenue and continue walking past the Fitzsimons Building, keeping it to your right. Just to the east of the Fitzsimons Building, on your right, will be the next artwork.
Please keep walking towards 19th Avenue towards the Fulginiti Pavilion. Before you reach the Pavilion, the next artwork will be on your left on the north side of the Education 1 courtyard garden on the other side of the trellis
Ahead of you to your right, on the west wall of the Fulginiti Pavilion will be the next artwork. (Feel free to visit Exhibitions in the Fulginiti Pavilion which are free and open to the public.)
Please turn back towards the Education Quad. Please turn left and pass by the front of the Fulginiti Pavilion and continue until you reach Education 2 North. From outside the north lobby, you can see the next artwork
Facing Cloud Cells, please turn to your right and start walking towards Children’s Hospital Colorado. Once you reach the Art Walk turn left and walk towards Victor Street under the Education Bridge. Please turn left at the gravel path to your left into the College of Nursing Commemorative Garden and walk north towards 19th Avenue. You will soon see the next artwork ahead to your right in front of the PASCAL building.
Facing Aspire, please turn right down the concrete path and proceed back towards the Art Walk. Proceed to the south side of the Art Walk and turn right to pass under the Education Bridge. After you pass Education 2 South, please turn left.
The next artwork will be visible in the north lobby of Education 2 South
Facing Fractured Column turn right towards Children’s Hospital Colorado. The next artwork will be visible ahead to your right in the southern portion of the Education Quad, the Healing Garden. Please proceed and loop around the piece.
Please proceed towards the School of Dental Medicine and turn right to head back to the Art Walk. Once you return to Corpus Callosum, the tour is complete.
