The Engineering Department is responsible for the administration of the SPCC Program as required by State policy through the Colorado Department of Labor & Employment – Division of Oil & Public Safety. The Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plan allows for prepared response to emergency spill and/or leak of petroleum containing fuel tanks. Various best-practice methods of minimizing leaks and spills, and the potential of drainage to water bodies, streams or rivers, or stormwater conveyances is controlled. Plans are updated and operating staff are trained on the necessary procedures.

For the Laboratory research requirements, Environmental Health & Safety Department is responsible for regulatory compliance associated with biosafety, radiation safety, and hazardous wastes – including CERCLA reporting.
