AFTER THE SEARCH

  • After the Search
Our affirmative action obligations include a responsibility to evaluate the effectiveness of our outreach efforts and a requirement that we retain records created during the search. One way we can do this is by taking some time at the end of a search process to determine whether we were successful in attracting a diverse applicant pool and considering diverse applicants for the position. In this section, you will find resources regarding evaluating your search efforts, as well as requirements for documenting the search.

It is important that we take time to evaluate the outreach efforts we undertake at the conclusion of each search.  By doing so, we can avoid unnecessarily devoting resources to efforts that have not proven fruitful, and we can share information about outreach efforts that have brought us successful candidates.

In order to comply with federal regulations regarding affirmative action, it is imperative that we promptly and accurately document every search process. For each applicant to a given requisition who was not hired, we must be able to tell from our documentation: (1) at what stage the applicant was eliminated from the process, and (2) why the applicant was eliminated. The answer to each of these questions should be documented for each applicant in Taleo.  If an HR business partner is responsible for entering the information into Taleo, the search committee chair must ensure that the HR business partner is given accurate information for each applicant. Applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements for a particular job do not count as qualified applicants for our affirmative action analysis, so it is critical to accurately document which applicants were eliminated because they did not meet the minimum requirements in order to exclude them from our analysis.  If you have any questions about the requirements for documenting your search process, please contact the Office of Equity at equity@ucdenver.edu.
