When using AI assistants for editorial, digital & social content creation, it is important that you use them to enhance creativity and productivity, but always maintain the originality.
The preferred AI assistant to be used by communicators at CU Anschutz is Microsoft Copilot. Be cautious when using AI tools, ensuring that personal, sensitive and university data are not uploaded or shared with unvetted AI systems (ChatGPT, Grammarly, Gemini, Sprout Social AI Assist, etc.), as they may not be secure.

When using AI to create or modify images, the intent should be to enhance creativity and productivity while maintaining originality and integrity. AI tools should support the original concept, not replace it, and any edits or enhancements should preserve the essence of the original image. Images should not be altered to the point that the original subject, message, or source is no longer recognizable.
Common image AI assistants used at the university are, Adobe Creative Suite for editing imagery and Adobe Firefly for image creation
Note: the use of AI stock photos in university communications and marketing is currently prohibited. Stock services like Adobe Stock, are now including AI generated assets in their libraries. They are clearly labeled and easy to filter out.
