COVID-19 & the CU Anschutz Community

A Message From Chancellor Elliman

A Marathon, Not a Sprint

COVID-19 vaccination is well underway in Colorado, yet it seems at times that we have more questions than answers when it comes to specific timelines and supply for all phases of the distribution plan. We are all eager for more detail, and you can rest assured that we will share what we learn about vaccine availability for members of our campus community as soon as we are able.

What we do know for certain is that the vaccination process will be a marathon, not a sprint. It is essential that we continue to adhere to public health guidance and on-campus safety and screening protocols for the duration.

While COVID-19 vaccines protect against illness, it is not yet known whether they protect against transmission. It is therefore vital to continue wearing masks, keeping your distance and staying home when sick, even after you’ve received the vaccine.

All those on campus, including those who have been vaccinated, must continue to follow established protocols:
  • Complete the daily health questionnaire.
  • Bring and wear a mask at all times.
  • Check in at a designated screening location and obtain a wristband daily.
  • Self-report if you become symptomatic, test positive or may have been exposed.

As I noted earlier this monthwe should expect the current hybrid model of campus operations to continue until the vaccine has been widely distributed to those in all phases of Colorado’s vaccine plan.

Thank you for doing your part to keep #CUAnschutzTogether. Our ability to keep moving forward depends on it.

Stay safe and be well,

Don Elliman
Chancellor
