Since 1989, Mini Med at the CU School of Medicine has educated and thrilled audiences of all ages and interests throughout Colorado and beyond with presentations by renowned doctors in the field on topics ranging from chronic medical conditions to current and emerging medicine.

Mini Med will be offered from the Anschutz Medical Campus one night weekly for four weeks in the spring semester and four weeks in the fall semester which include a live Q&A. Each session will be live-streamed via Zoom from the presenter’s location to communities across Colorado.

INTRODUCING: “Frontiers in Medicine.” One session each semester will be presented from a remote location in Colorado with a local doctor and live-streamed to all other locations.

WHERE:  Join us at the Anschutz Medical Campus (AMC) in Aurora, in our lecture hall, or a location near you.  After your registration, we will contact you with the closest in-person locations in your county, and provide a Zoom link for your use.

Mini Med Presenter Profile

Dr. Juliana Wilson, DO, MPH is a Colorado native who has worked at the University of Colorado since 2016. She completed a residency and a fellowship in Ultrasound at the State University of Buffalo. She is actively involved in medical education as it relates to ultrasound, emergency medicine and critical care at the UME and GME levels. She also serves as the co-chair for the UCHealth POCUS committee.

Originally from West Hartford, CT, Dr. Nestler received her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA. She then went on to complete a residency in Family Medicine at the University of Colorado in the Denver Health Track where she was Chief Resident in her final year. She is currently a Faculty Development Fellow in the Department of Family Medicine at Denver Health practicing both inpatient and outpatient medicine with a focus on medical education at the medical student and resident level. She loves full-spectrum outpatient care including prenatal care, refugee health, outpatient procedures, gender-affirming care, and addition medicine. Outside of clinical work, she is deeply passionate about teaching the next generation of physicians with a hope to expose learners to primary care and Family Medicine early on in their training. Beyond medicine, she loves hiking in the mountains with her husband, trying new restaurants and coffee shops, and spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Dr. Deutchman, MD is a Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He also has faculty appointments in the School of Dental Medicine and in the School of Public Health. He has been involved in rural medical practice or teaching for over 45 years. He practiced Family Medicine in rural Washington State for 12 years after completing medical school at The Ohio State University and residency in Spokane, Washington. After leaving rural practice he taught at the University of Tennessee, Memphis and developed an obstetrics fellowship for Family Physicians destined for rural practice. He has been at the University of Colorado since 1995 teaching medical students, residents and fellows and developed an obstetrics fellowship and a rural fellowship. In 2005 he founded the Rural Track in the School of Medicine, a program for students who are planning a career in rural medical practice. He is Associate Dean for Rural Health at the University of Colorado and has served in the past as Director of the Colorado Area Health Education system. His research and development efforts focus on rural healthcare workforce development, access to maternity care and interprofessional collaboration.

Dr. Furfari, MD graduated from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 2004. She works in Aurora, CO and 2 other locations and specializes in Family Medicine, Hospital Medicine and Other Specialty. Dr. Furfari is affiliated with University Of Colorado Hospital.
