Meet our Presenters!

Katheryn Boyd-Trull

Katheryn Boyd-Trull, MD

Dr. Katheryn Boyd-Trull is an associate professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. With extensive experience inpatient critical care and street medicine, Dr. Boyd has dedicated her career to improving access to healthcare for underserved populations. She has served as the inpatient medical chief for the Family Medicine Department at the University of Colorado Hospital for the past 13 years, demonstrating her commitment to quality healthcare delivery.

 

Dr. Boyd has a strong interest in teaching all healthcare workers about effective healthcare delivery to critical care patients and those experiencing homelessness. She serves as a faculty advisor for the CU Street Medicine program and has been actively involved in various initiatives aimed at enhancing health equity and community engagement.

 

Her work has garnered multiple grants and awards, including the Street Medicine Institute Seed Grant and the Presidents Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award. Dr. Boyd has presented her research on topics such as transitions of care and the safe delivery of street medicine at both national and international conferences.

 

In addition to her academic and research endeavors, Dr. Boyd has taken on numerous leadership roles, including serving on the inpatient CODE team task force and as a faculty leader for morbidity and mortality case reviews. Her commitment to community service is evident through her volunteer work with organizations that provide medical services to unhoused and uninsured individuals.

 

Dr. Boyd is passionate about bridging the gap between medical education and community health, making her a prominent advocate for innovative solutions to healthcare disparities.

Kevin Deane, MD

Kevin D. Deane, MD/PhD

Dr. Deane is a Rheumatologist and Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz. His undergraduate training was at the University of California, Davis, which is near his hometown of Auburn, California. He completed medical school at Loma Linda University and his Internal Medicine Residency and Rheumatology Fellowship at the University of Colorado. He practices outpatient and inpatient clinical rheumatology at UCHealth. His research interests are in understanding how rheumatoid arthritis (RA) develops, and especially the biology of RA prior to the onset of the first swollen joint – a period that can be termed ‘pre-RA’. He has also participated in research related to the role of the lung in RA – both as an initiating site for RA, and as a ‘target’ for autoimmune-mediated injury. Robert Meguid, MD

Robert Meguid, MD, MPH, FACS

 

Robert Meguid, MD, MPH, FACS, is the Stan & Mary Ellen Cope Family Endowed Chair and Professor of Surgery in the Section of General Thoracic Surgery, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Department of Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Aurora, Colorado. Dr. Meguid joined the faculty in 2012 after completing his general surgery residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital, a research fellowship in thoracic oncology, a Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and a cardiothoracic surgery residency at the University of Washington. He is the Associate Vice Chair of Clinical Research in the Department of Surgery. He is a founding member and a past president of the Thoracic Surgery Outcomes Research Network, a member of the AATS, SUS, STS, WTSA, ESTS, AAS, Surgical Outcomes Club, and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. His research interests are in the identification and development of processes and systems of care leading to improved surgical patient outcomes. These efforts are currently focused on improving patient understanding and provider assessment of preoperative risk, and on using advanced statistical methodology to identify adverse postoperative outcomes. He practices in all aspects of general thoracic surgery. His clinical expertise in thoracic Surgery is in minimally invasive, robotic approaches to malignant and benign lung, esophageal disease, and management of chest wall disease. He enjoys his free time with his wife and kids, travelling, playing soccer with his kids, and snowboarding.

Parking lots closest to the in-person session building are highlighted in red on the map below.

Handicap Parking

Designated handicap parking is available in the visitor pay parking lots. Visitors must display the State of Colorado Disability Placard on their vehicle while in the visitor handicap parking areas along with parking payment receipt or the vehicle will be ticketed. Handicap parking spaces are subject to the same rate structure as indicated in the Patient and Visitor Parking section below.

Patient/Visitor Parking

On the CU Anschutz, there are daily cash customer parking lots for CU Anschutz Patients and Visitors: Parking for patients or visitors is located at any parking lot signed "Patient and Visitor Parking" and at parking meters. The daily parking rates are as follows:

  • $1.00 per hour up to 8 hours
  • Daily Maximum Rate - $8.00
  • Parking meters are 25 cents / 15 minutes with a maximum stay of 4 hours
  • Evenings after 4PM - $1.00 flat rate
  • Weekends and Campus Holidays - $1.00 flat rate

The visitor parking lots have automated pay stations. The license plate of the vehicle parked will need to be entered at the pay station upon payment. The receipt does not have to be displayed on the dash of the vehicle. The pay stations accept many forms of payment:

  • Cash/coin up to a $5 bill (Change is NOT given at the machine. A refund receipt will be issued and will need to be taken to the parking office in Building 500.)
  • Credit card payments accepted (Visa, MasterCard, Discover)
  • Day Passes can be purchased from the Parking Office

Parkmobile Pay By Phone

Using Parkmobile allows you to pay for parking, at Parkmobile enabled pay stations, by phone. When using Parkmobile you choose how long you want to park and pay for that amount of time. When the expiration time approaches, you can receive a text alert allowing you to extend your time (within the maximum time limit for the lot.) Advantages include:

  • Decreased chance of parking fines with text message expiration reminders sent to your cell phone.
  • A new smart phone app which enables all of the capabilities of the service with the touch of a button.
  • Parking receipts via email/text message.
  • Corporate accounts: Parkmobile offers the option to create corporate accounts with an unlimited number of parkers and the ability to pre-pay in denominations available for departmental use.
  • A $.35 transaction fee will apply for each transaction.

To pay by phone, you will first need to create an account with Parkmobile.
