Your Safety Remains Our Top Priority, 8-20-20

Dear students, faculty and staff,

As we watch universities in Colorado and around the country make abrupt changes to their return plans due to COVID-19 cases in their communities, I want to assure you that our guiding principles for a slow, measured and safe return to campus remain unchanged. I also want to thank you for adhering to the protocols in place and choosing to behave responsibly - our ability to remain open depends on it.

We are committed, first and foremost, to doing everything we can to protect your health and safety, mitigate risk and prevent COVID-19 from spreading among our community.  As conditions continue to change rapidly, we are making careful decisions that are aligned with our mission and at all times guided by the best science and data available.

The robust screening processes in place at our four campus check-in locations, along with our required safety protocols and active contact tracing and case investigation program, are proving highly effective.  We are at this time not aware of any COVID-19-positive employee or student exposed while on campus. If you are at risk for a potential exposure, or in the case of an outbreak on campus, we are committed to notifying you quickly.

At this time, our hybrid model continues, with a mix of remote and in-person activity. We are averaging 2,800 to 3,200 faculty, staff and students on campus each day. These individuals have been invited and approved for on-campus working and learning, given the necessities of their particular roles or educational requirements.  The vast majority of our students, faculty and staff continue to work and learn remotely.

Our health as a community is all of our responsibility. Indeed, it is incumbent on each of us to do our part as we continue to move forward together. You can help by observing  on-campus safety and screening requirements , keeping your distance from others, and wearing a mask at all times.

Should you have questions or concerns, you may submit those on the  return to campus webpage. We are grateful to all of those who are making a safe return to limited on-campus activity possible.

Thank you for helping keep #CUAnschutzTogether.

Sincerely,

Don Elliman
Chancellor
