Our Hearts are with Michigan State University, 2-15-23

Dear students, faculty and staff,

Our hearts are with the Michigan State University community in the wake of Monday’s senseless shooting there. We mourn for the students who lost their lives, those who were injured, their families and loved ones.

At CU Anschutz, we are committed to doing everything we can to keep our community safe. We take security seriously on our campus, including requiring the use of badges to access university facilities. To help us maintain campus safety, please be aware of your surroundings and do not allow others to enter campus facilities behind you, or to “tailgate,” when entering badge-access buildings.

Our campus is patrolled 24/7 by the CU Anschutz Police Department, which coordinates with city and county police. Interested students and employees can take part in ongoing safety trainings, and you can request a security escort to your vehicle at any time. Please ensure you are signed up for CU Anschutz alerts and the SafeZone app. You can reach the CU Anschutz Police Department at 303-724-4444.

Please know that as a part of the CU Anschutz community, you are never alone. We are here for you, and support and resources are available today and every day.

Take care of yourselves and one another,

Don Elliman
Chancellor
