Mourning a loss to the CU Anschutz community, 7-1-25

Dear faculty, staff and students,

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of Karen Diamond, beloved spouse of Dean Emeritus Dr. Lou Diamond of the CU Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Karen was a cherished member of the CU Anschutz community and is remembered fondly by many. Dr. Diamond currently serves as chair of the Vice Chancellor’s Advisory Committee and has since 2009.

Mrs. Diamond sustained life-threatening injuries when she and Dr. Diamond were among those attacked June 1 in Boulder, Colorado, while participating in a peaceful walk supporting Israeli hostages. Last week, Karen passed away as a result of those injuries.

We extend our deepest condolences to Dr. Diamond, his family, friends, and all who love them in the wake of this devastating loss. Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by this horrific attack, and we hope the days ahead bring peace to all.
