Announcing Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Resources, 6-20-23

Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to share that Nelia Viveiros, EdD, LLB, has been named Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Resources for the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. We look forward to the wealth of expertise she brings to this newly created role, which is the result of internal restructuring efforts within Academic and Student Affairs. This role includes oversight of work in the area of Adaptable Resolution and our Ombuds and Affirmative Action offices, as well as specific programmatic support for Human Resources, Academic and Student Affairs, and the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Community Engagement.

Dr. Viveiros has been a part of our university community for some time, having previously served CU Denver | Anschutz as Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Operations. After serving in a leadership role at Temple University, Dr. Viveiros has returned to Colorado to lead us in this new position. Her career in higher education spans more than two decades and includes leadership experience in diversity, equity and inclusion; justice and issue resolution; organizational development; strategy and policy work; data analysis and project management; and recruitment and retention.

Will Dewese, MEd, will be an integral member of Dr. Viveiros’ team, as Director of Adaptable Resolution. He is working closely with Dr. Viveiros to build and support a campus climate of using adaptable resolution approaches for mediation, conflict management, and community and restorative justice in the context of higher education. More information is available here about this work at CU Anschutz. Will previously served as CU Denver | Anschutz Office of Equity Director and Title IX Coordinator.

We are fortunate to have as accomplished a leader as Dr. Viveiros in this new role, to which she brings tremendous passion and experience. Nelia is uniquely equipped to serve our campus in this capacity, and we look forward to collaborating with her to boost vital efforts for the benefit of our campus community.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Viveiros to this new role.

Sincerely,

Don Elliman
Chancellor
