Location Services Standards

Standards for enabling location services for Microsoft Teams Calling on university-owned devices.

Background

The Location Services Standards define requirements for enabling location services for Microsoft Teams Calling on university-owned devices at CU Denver and CU Anschutz. These standards apply only to the Teams application, which is used for campus emergency 911 calling as part of the September 2025 Teams Calling rollout. Other applications are not in scope because they do not support emergency calling.

Purpose

These standards ensure accurate location data is available during emergency calls, supporting faster response times and regulatory compliance. In a flexible work environment where users can call from multiple devices and locations, enabling location services is critical to maintaining a safe campus community.

Scope

These standards apply to all university-owned devices using Microsoft Teams for calling. They are limited to Teams Calling functionality and do not extend to other applications or personal devices.
