Regalia Accessories
Graduates are permitted to wear accessories with their commencement regalia, including cords, stoles, and/or medals that recognize achievement by their academic unit or a national honor society, are issued by a university department, or denote contributions to a professional association or officially recognized student organization. Individual adornments, such as flower leis and cultural or national identity stoles are also permitted - without advance approval - provided they are respectful and do not interfere with the ceremony.
Latin honor cords are issued to undergraduates by the College of Nursing for academic achievement. Please contact the Nursing Office of Student Affairs to inquire about eligibility.
Note: Qualified Native American students may wear and display traditional tribal regalia in our graduation ceremonies, per Colorado revised statute. 22-1-142.
New Cords or Stoles
Requests for new regalia accessories are made by completing and submitting the Academic Regalia Accessory Request Form. The form should be submitted by the organization’s advisor/sponsor or department representative at least three months prior to commencement. Requested cords and stoles must not replicate the design/colors of previously approved stoles or cords.

Black & Gold: Stole that recognizes members of the Voices in Medicine student-led committee in the CHA/PA program.
Black, Gold & White: Cord signifies the student conducted honors research in the College of Nursing.
Black & Lavender: Stole recognizes members of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.
Black & White: Braided cord issued to members of the Student National Pharmaceutical Association.
Blue & White: Braided cord signifies membership in the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy.
Blue (Dark): Cord identifies members of the College of Nursing Student Council.
Blue (Dark), Gold & White: Cord recognizes members of the CU Student Nurses Association (CUSNA).
Blue (Royal): Cord indicating membership in the National Community Pharmacy Association.
Blue (Royal) & Orange: Braided cord issued to members of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
Fuchsia: Cord recognizes students who are members of Women in Neural Engineering.
Gold:
Gold: Cords issued to undergraduate students who earn Latin honors in the College of Nursing.
Gold & Black: Recognizes Peer Tutors for undergraduates in the College of Nursing.
Gold, Rust & Black: Cords identify members of the Pharmacy Outreach Program (POP).
Gold & Blue: Cords signify Colorado Public Health Association (CPHA) Emerging Leaders.
Gold, Rust & Silver: Braided cords indicate NAPLEX readiness distinction in the Skaggs School of Pharmacy.
Gold & White: Recognizes Peer Mentors for undergraduates in the College of Nursing.
Green: Cords identify medical students inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society.
Green, White & Gold: Braided cords indicating MD students graduating from the Fort Collins branch campus.
Maroon & Gold: Braided cords issued to members of the Phi Delta Chi Pharmacy Fraternity.
Purple & White (two cords): Cords issued to members of the Rho Chi National Honor Society for Pharmacy.
Purple & White (braided): Cords/stoles recognizing membership in the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society for Nursing.
Red: Cords signify students who served in the CU Denver Learning Assistant Program.
Red, White & Blue: Cords recognize active duty military and veterans.
Red & White: Cords issued to Colorado School of Public Health graduates who served as a This is Public Health (TIPH) Ambassador with the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health.
Salmon: Cord symbolizing a graduate who is receiving a second degree from the Colorado School of Public Health.
Salmon & Black: Stole issued to members of the Delta Omega Honors Society.
Silver: Cord that recognizes participation in the Student Pharmacy Executive Student Council.
Teal: Cord identifying members of CU-PediatRx, the student chapter of the Pediatric Pharmacy Advocacy Group (PPA).
Teal, Black & Silver: Issued to graduates who served as Dedicated to Aurora's Wellness & Needs (DAWN) Clinic volunteers.
Teal & Blue: Cord distributed to members of the American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists.
Teal, Purple & Gold: Cord identifying board members of the CU Student Nurses Association (CUSNA).
Teal & White: Cord signifying service as a member of the Colorado School of Public Health Student Council.
Yellow & Black: Cords issued by the School of Medicine to students in the Rural Track.
