The Lancet Commission Teacher Training Fellowship
on Medicine, Nazism, and the Holocaust

Teaching history can transform learning among health science professionals.

There is an urgent need for a new generation of trained educators with knowledge about the history of Medicine, Nazism, and the Holocaust as well as advanced skills in teaching this challenging and complex subject.  Join us and add this unique specialty to your teaching CV. 


The year-long pilot fellowship includes: 

  • In-person kick-off in Vienna, Austria, November 10-13, 2023
  • Monthly, 2-hour, distance learning sessions with experts from around the world
  • Individualized matching with a mentoring team of international experts
  • Capstone presentation of work at a major conference hosted by the Cedars-Sinai Center for Medicine,
    Holocaust and Genocide Studies in Los Angeles, November 18 & 19, 2024
  • FREE tuition for those accepted to the pilot year cohort

Who Should Apply?

Faculty currently teaching in a health science program who want to develop a unique specialty, are interested in being part of an innovative pilot program, and who can find funding for your own travel and accommodations in Vienna and Los Angeles.  Applicants may include physicians, nurses, pharmacists, health science researchers and other health professionals. 


Program Cost
Thanks to the generous support of several funders, there will be NO tuition charged for this pilot program in 2023-24.  Free tuition is for this inaugural year only.  Some meals will be provided, but applicants are responsible for funding their own travel and accommodation expenses for the Vienna and Los Angeles in-person meetings.
