Research Administrator Academy: From Awarded to Closeout


The Research Administrator Academy (RAA): From Awarded to Closeout is a comprehensive training series designed to strengthen research administration knowledge, build confidence, and foster collaboration between departments and the Office of Grants and Contracts (OGC). The academy provides hands-on training in the core processes, systems, and requirements that support post-award management of sponsored projects.

Who Should Attend?

The RAA was designed for CU Anschutz | CU Denver employees in departmental post-award positions. Specific individuals have been identified as part of the required trainee population because they meet one of the following criteria:

  • Hold a fiscal manager role on one or more sponsored projects
  • Serve as a departmental team member who regularly works with OGC to manage awards

If you fall within the mandatory population you will be given registration priority through August 2027.

Curriculum

The Research Administrator Academy (RAA) consists of five courses totaling 29 hours of classroom instruction:

  1. Research Administration Roles & Responsibilities (5 hours)
  2. Managing Expenses During Life of the Award (12 hours)
  3. Understanding Cost Transfer Journal Entries (3 hours)
  4. Employee Effort Management (6 hours)
  5. Crossing the Finish Line: Award Closeout (3 hours)
