Call for Input into Campus Response to OMB Proposed Rule and Guidance for Commenting as Individuals, 6-18-2026

Dear Research Community,

Thanks to those who attended this week's Federal Research Update Town Hall, where we discussed some of the high-level changes that are being proposed by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in its OMB Federal Register proposed rule (91 Fed. Reg. 32198, May 29, 2026).

CU Anschutz leadership will craft an official campus response to the OMB regarding this proposed rule, and we invite the Campus Research Community to:

  1. Submit comments to campus leadership to inform our response, and/or
  2. Submit comments directly to the OMB, not on behalf of the campus, but instead as individuals.

GUIDANCE FOR MEMBERS OF THE CU ANSCHUTZ RESEARCH COMMUNITY TO PROVIDE INPUT INTO THE CAMPUS RESPONSE TO OMB

  • Using this form, please provide your comments on the topics that are of the highest priority to you. Our internal call for comments closes next Friday, June 26, 2026.
  • Your responses will be collated and analyzed to inform the official campus response, and CU Anschutz leadership will submit the official campus response to the OMB by its July 13, 2026, deadline.

GUIDANCE FOR MEMBERS OF THE CAMPUS RESEARCH COMMUNITY TO RESPOND DIRECTLY TO OMB

Members of the CU Anschutz Research Community may also wish to provide comments directly as individuals, as opposed to on behalf of the campus, to the OMB by July 13, 2026.

In the spirit of the CU System policy for interacting with the media, employees who wish to provide comments as individuals directly to the OMB should clarify that the opinions expressed are their own and do not represent the position of the University of Colorado Anschutz.

Please follow this guidance when preparing your comments.

If you have questions about the call for input into the campus response to OMB or about responding directly to the OMB as an individual, please submit them through the Federal Updates campus form. Also, be sure to check the Federal Updates for Researchers webpage for the latest FAQs.

Thank you for all you do to support our campus research mission.

Sincerely,

Thomas Flaig, MD
Vice Chancellor for Research
