Turning dreams into life-changing discoveries to change the face of medicine. Together.
In partnership with the world-class Colorado Symphony, Never Dream Alone underscores the power of collaboration and the CU Anschutz mission: innovating together to advance discovery and improve people’s lives.
Healing, discovery and hope happen when we dream and work in concert with each other. Medicine, like music, thrives in harmony.
Read on to learn more about three areas of campus excellence highlighted in our Where Dreams Live campaign.
At the CU Anschutz Medical Campus, we lead research and deliver clinical care encompassing all aspects of neurology. We consistently rank in the top neurology departments nationally in research support from the National Institutes of Health.
Our experts are leading advancements in the emerging field of autoimmune neurology – transforming research, diagnoses and treatment of complex, debilitating disorders that affect the brain and spinal cord – to change and improve patients’ lives.
“We see patients at their most vulnerable periods,” said Amanda Piquet, MD, associate professor of neurology and director of the autoimmune neurology program at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. “We are currently running two major trials in autoimmune encephalitis and in stiff person syndrome, including a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy trial, which I believe is the next frontier for autoimmune disease. The future is bright for bringing better therapies to patients.”
Our state of the art vision facility is one of the largest eye centers in the nation, and serves patients from the Rocky Mountain region and all over the world.
From groundbreaking stem cell research to whole eye transplantation to harnessing AI to predetermine disease risks, CU Anschutz experts are leading innovative research and treatment development for age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and other blinding diseases.
“The technological innovations conceived and developed by departmental faculty have changed the practice of eye care worldwide,” says Naresh Mandava, MD, Professor and Chair, Department of Ophthalmology and the Executive Director of the Sue Anschutz-Rodgers Eye Center. “Our specialists have developed national and international reputations for excellence in routine and complex ophthalmic care. We are proud that our clinicians perform at the highest levels in their respective fields.”
From pioneering pediatric audiology to improving access to cochlear implants, CU Anschutz ear specialists have been at the forefront of hearing innovation for over 100 years.
Our legacy of excellence continues as our experts work to harness the possibilities of gene therapy to reverse auditory neuropathy and restore hearing to those across the age spectrum. We are also leading research into the connections between hearing loss and cognitive impairment and the onset of conditions like Alzheimer’s disease.
“We are committed to delivering cutting edge clinical care of the highest quality for all conditions of the ear, nose, throat and head and neck cancer; to training the future leaders of Otolaryngology; and to generating research insights that will lead to new treatments for future generations of patients,” says Yuri Agrawal, MD MPH, Chair, Department of Otolaryngology.
