Heather Straub, MD is currently an Associate professor of Maternal Fetal Medicine and part of the Clinical Science Graduate Program Faculty at the University of Colorado. During her MFM fellowship, she completed a Clinical Medical Ethics Fellowship through the McLean Center at the University of Chicago. She has presented ethical concerns at national and local conferences particularly around “Access to care”, “Ethical issues around abortion” and “The duty of a healthcare worker during a pandemic”. At the University, she directs the Perinatal Ethics Grand Rounds and has developed and facilitated an OB/GYN resident curriculum.
She has been actively working to improve the fourth-year medical student transition to residency bootcamp courses/simulations around professionalism, difficult conversations and challenges in gender and reproductive care. She is interested in ethics in reproductive health including the doctor patient relationship and patient autonomy. She also volunteers as a Medical Proxy for the UCHealth system.
