Staff Council Connects with Staff at Earth Day Booth
Connecting with staff through meaningful conversations, sustainable choices and shared campus experiences

One of our goals this year is to show up consistently at campus events so we can meet staff where they are and connect one-on-one. Earth Day gave us a great opportunity to do exactly that. Instead of relying on stacks of flyers or quick handoffs, we focused on engaging conversations with staff about what matters to them and how Staff Council can support their experience at CU Anschutz.
Through those conversations, many staff members learned more about:
- Upcoming Staff Council events
- The VOICE Champion Award, which is currently accepting nominations
- The Professional Development Funding Application Form and how to apply
- Our new Faces of CU Anschutz campaign
Also, in the spirit of Earth Day, we made a conscious effort to reduce waste. That meant keeping handouts to a zero, prioritizing interaction over paper and plastic materials. Instead, we offered a single, high-quality prize basket valued at $100. The basket included cozy, useful items like:
- An adorable teddy bear
- Comfy track pants
- A ceramic mug with a lid
The response was incredible – 119 staff members interacted with us and were entered to our prize draw for a chance to win!

Staff Council is at the Benefits Fair today in the Krugman Conference Room in RC2. We’ll be continuing conversations, answering questions, and offering one last chance to enter the prize drawing before a winner is announced.
