MSPC Director

Melissa C. Palmer, LCSW, ACHP-SW, APHSW-C, JD ([email protected]) has worked in palliative care and hospice for 25 years at inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. After completing a dual JD/MSW program at the University of Denver, Melissa worked at several palliative care/hospice programs at Sutter Health, Kaiser Permanente, and UC Health. In 2005, she co-created a hospital-based palliative care program in Northern California. When Melissa and her family moved back to Colorado in 2014, she provided palliative care therapeutic interventions for Colorado Foothills communities. Melissa Palmer received her certification for advance practice social worker in the field of hospice and palliative care (ACHP-SW in 2017 and APHSW-C in 2019). Her CU Anschutz SOM faculty role began in 2018, and in January 2021, Melissa transitioned to leadership as MSPC Director and Allied Health lead. Melissa received the GIM Excellence award in 2024 and has presented nationally and internationally on a variety of palliative care topics. Melissa loves to travel abroad with son Jacob and take trail runs with her fur baby Coco.
