Biography


Laura Borgelt

Laura Borgelt, PharmD, MBA, leads the academic mission at the University of Colorado Anschutz, where she oversees all aspects of the faculty and student experience. Working closely with the deans, she shapes academic strategy, fosters innovation and champions student success. 

Dr. Borgelt has served CU Anschutz for more than 25 years as an educator, clinician, scholar and administrator. She served as chief operating officer for the Gates Institute, advancing the university’s leadership in cell and gene therapies. Previously, she led the development of campuswide strategy and the implementation of ambitious five-year initiatives. She also established the Office of Digital Learning, overseeing more than 40 degree and certificate programs.

Dr. Borgelt is a long-standing educator and mentor, holding a primary faculty appointment in the CU Anschutz Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences ‒ where she previously served in key administrative and operational leadership roles ‒ and a secondary appointment in the CU Anschutz School of Medicine. 

A tenured professor, prolific researcher and board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist, Dr. Borgelt is widely sought in academic circles and beyond for her expertise in areas spanning women’s health, patient safety and leadership. 

Throughout her career, she has taught nearly 4,000 students and residents, and over 100,000 healthcare professionals across pharmacy, medicine, nursing, dental medicine and physical therapy. She has developed a substantial body of scholarly work, including numerous articles and textbooks, reflecting a sustained commitment to advancing interdisciplinary education and innovation. 

Dr. Borgelt has been recognized for excellence with numerous awards for teaching and mentorship, including her selection for the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine program.
