Applicant Tracking System Project

Applicant Tracking System Project Overview

The Applicant Tracking System (ATS) Project is a University of Colorado initiative to replace and update the current ATS, Taleo, and move to PageUp. This ATS is being adopted by the Anschutz, Colorado Springs, Denver campuses, as well as CU System. PageUp will provide job description management, recruitment, and onboarding in a streamlined solution to improve the applicant and hiring experience.

This new system will be used to recruit the following employment types: classified, faculty, university staff, postdocs, temporary, and retirees. We are also evaluating whether to bring student hiring into the applicant tracking system.

Key Changes:

With expanded capabilities in PageUp, the hiring department will be able to:

  • Leverage robust integrations with HCM, reducing the need for HR staff to manually copy and paste information from HCM.
  • Store and update job descriptions
  • Have visibility into the approval process, with the ability for departments to see who has approved the job description, requisition, and offer card
  • Review and approve offer letters, and enable new hires to electronically acknowledge ‘sign’ the offer letter
  • Streamline new hire HCM record creation and background check processes
  • Onboard employees through a module that will outline the new hire tasks, which include tasks to complete prior to their start date

Why is Taleo being replaced?

Taleo is an Oracle product, and Oracle is discontinuing it by the end of 2027. Also, given our campus's growing hiring needs, we need a system that better supports the campus. We currently do not have job descriptions in the system, and we do not have a campus-wide onboarding system.

How This Benefits You

There are several benefits to the system; below is a breakdown of the benefits by user group:

  • Applicants
    • Simplified application process with a more intuitive and user-friendly experience
    • Improved communication throughout the hiring process
    • Greater transparency and visibility into the candidate journey
    • Faster hiring experience through streamlined workflows and automation
    • Electronic offer acceptance, reducing paperwork and delays
    • Structured pre-boarding and onboarding support before the first day
  • Hiring Managers
    • Greater visibility into hiring progress with the ability to track approvals and recruitment workflow status in real time.
    • Centralized job description management within the ATS, making it easier to create, update, and maintain position information.
    • Electronic offer management that allows for faster review, approval, and candidate acceptance of offers.
    • Structured onboarding experience that helps new hires complete key tasks before their first day, reducing manager workload.
  • Department HR
    • Centralized job descriptions, recruitment, offers, and onboarding
    • Increased visibility into approvals and recruitment workflows
