CU Anschutz Hosts Colorado Net Zero Campus Forum Exchange
Nov 13, 2024On October 18, CU Anschutz hosted the Colorado Net Zero Campus Forum Exchange at the Anschutz Health Science Building. Organized by the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL), these meetings regularly share insights into campus sustainability efforts across Colorado’s academic institutions. Over 50 attendees from various campuses and industries across the state participated in the exchange.
The meeting on October 18 highlighted several key initiatives, including innovative space utilization efforts at CU Anschutz, recent developments in the Energy Master Plan and Campus Action Plan, and new solar installations at CU Boulder.
Andre Vite, Campus Architect, discussed the space utilization initiative known as the Hub. Traditionally, faculty at CU Anschutz are assigned offices upon joining the campus. However, due to continuous growth, faculty office space has become scarce. To address this, CU Anschutz piloted a service where clinical faculty can surrender their offices in exchange for access to a concierge workspace called the Hub. The Hub provides reservable workspaces, telehealth offices, concierge services, IT support, and more to meet the needs of busy faculty. This space-saving initiative has saved CU Anschutz over $60 million to date in averted costs for building new office space to accommodate incoming clinical faculty.
