The fund reflects Tom and Bev’s deep connection to CU Anschutz and their dedication to advancing research that offers hope to patients facing leukemia and other blood cancers. In 2012, Tom became a patient of Dan Pollyea, MD, MS, and Jonathan Gutman, MD, after being diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Following treatment and participation in a clinical trial, he underwent a stem cell transplant. Tom and Bev became inspired by the care he received and the potential of innovative research to improve outcomes for future patients.
Before Tom's passing in 2015, he and Bev created this endowed research fund through a $1 million gift commitment. Since then, Bev has strengthened their legacy through annual gifts that support the fund's mission. Her latest planned gift will bring the fund's future value to $3 million, helping the CU Anschutz Division of Hematology advance research in blood cancers and graft-versus-host disease.
Thank you to Angela DellaSalle and Carly Werbos in the Office of Advancement for their partnership in facilitating this gift, and to Bev Evans for her extraordinary generosity in support of research and the patients and families who will benefit from groundbreaking developments in care.
