A commitment of $2.2 million will be used to create the Christine L. Honnen Endowed Chair in Regenerative Medicine and the Christine L. Honnen Fund in Regenerative Medicine to expand the Institute’s leadership team. The chairholder will focus on discovering, developing and delivering biologic, cellular and gene-based therapies at the Gates Institute at CU Anschutz with expertise in manufacturing sciences.
An additional gift of $1 million will launch the Christine L. Honnen Fund for Excellence in Behavioral Health. This fund will bolster work being done at the inpatient behavioral health unit at UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital, providing support for operations, equipment and education. Moreover, the gift will help improve the care space at the inpatient unit for optimal mental health and well-being.
With deep gratitude, we thank the Honnen family for their commitment to honoring Christine’s legacy in such a meaningful way that will impact CU Anschutz and the community for years to come. We also thank Sarah Kabat at UCHealth and Elizabeth Hepworth and Liz Muscatello in the Office of Advancement for facilitating this gift.
