Allen, who passed away peacefully on Aug. 7, 2026, was a registered nurse, researcher, philanthropist and devoted advocate for scientific discovery. Together with her husband, Robert “Bob” H. Allen, MD, she forged a remarkable partnership in medicine, research and philanthropy that left an enduring impact on the University of Colorado and the broader medical community. Those interested in learning more about her extraordinary life may read her obituary here.
The Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes within the CU Anschutz School of Medicine is a national leader in advancing the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of endocrine disorders through innovative research, expert clinical care and physician training. This gift will provide critical support for the research of Dr. Wierman, professor in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes and director of the CU Anschutz Pituitary Tumor Program, whose work is advancing understanding of reproductive endocrine disorders and pituitary and adrenal tumors. Through studies of reproductive hormone regulation and the biological pathways that drive pituitary and adrenal tumors, Dr. Wierman’s laboratory is translating scientific discoveries into potential new treatments for conditions affecting puberty, fertility, hormone balance and tumor growth.
The Allen family has supported CU Anschutz for many years, including the creation of four endowed chairs in the Division of Hematology, where Bob Allen served as a longtime division chief and faculty member. Through this newest commitment, Nancy Allen's vision and generosity will continue to inspire scientific discovery and improve care for patients facing some of the most complex endocrine disorders.
We are deeply grateful for all that this gift will make possible. We honor Nancy Carroll Allen's enduring legacy, celebrate Dr. Wierman's extraordinary leadership in endocrinology and thank Allison Krebs and Jamie Mager in the Office of Advancement for their thoughtful partnership in bringing this vision to life.
