Feb 18, 2020Point Designs LLC (www.pointdesignsllc.com ) was recently awarded a Phase 2 STTR (FAIN: R42HD097827) by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health & Human Development of the National Institutes of Health entitled The Point Digit: A ratcheting prosthetic finger technology using advanced rapid manufacturing technology. The award totals $1.5 million over two years and provides the resources to conduct a nation-wide clinical trial using the Point Digit technology. Key partners include the Biomechatronics Development Laboratory directed by Professor Richard Weir at the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus and the clinical experts at Arm Dynamics Inc. The Point Digit is the leading prosthetic finger technology on the market today. The ratcheting, positionable designs ensure that people with partial hand amputation can perform heavy-duty manual labor or delicate tasks requiring high-dexterity. This award will ensure critical clinical data will be available to patients, clinicians, and third-party providers so that more people with partial hand amputation can recover what was lost.
