Countdown to Vaccination Deadline - 7-7-21

Dear colleagues,

With summer upon us, we wanted to remind you that the September 1 deadline for meeting the CU Anschutz COVID-19 vaccination requirement is fast approaching. If you have not yet begun the vaccination process, I encourage you to take action quickly to do so.

In order to meet the September 1 deadline for full vaccination, it is vital to schedule your appointment(s) ahead of time - as early as next week for a two-dose vaccine option. Remember that, in addition to the timeframe between doses for the Pfizer (21 days) or Moderna (28 days) vaccines, you also need to account for the required 14-day period following your final dose of any vaccine.

  • For the two-dose Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, you need to schedule your first dose by mid-July.
  • For the single-dose Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccine, you will need to obtain your shot by mid-August.

It is easy to get vaccinated. Appointments are widely available at local providers throughout Colorado, including UCHealth. You can get help finding a vaccine by visiting cocovidvaccine.org or calling 1-877-CO-VAX-CO (1-877-268-2926).

Coming soon for CU Anschutz employees is our web-based vaccine verification and exemption process. You will be hearing more about this system as we near an early-August launch. With a quick visit to the verification website, you will be able to securely enter your vaccination information, or submit your exemption. Please note medical exemptions require the signature of a medical provider.

For those conducting on-campus activity over the summer months, an optional COVID-19 vaccination badge sticker program is available, and more information is available here.

Our campus has signed on to take part in the White House COVID-19 College Vaccine Challenge, a nationwide effort to champion vaccination across university campuses and bring an end to the pandemic. Help us lead by example as part of this historic challenge.

We have come a long way together as a community, and now is not the time to let our guard down. Please do your part to help us get to the finish line, and return to a healthy and productive fall.

Sincerely,

Don Elliman
