Dear colleagues,
As the holiday season approaches, I want to again express my gratitude for your hard work and dedication to making CU Anschutz a world-class academic medical center.
Last week Governor Polis authorized 20 hours of extra holiday administrative leave for state employees, and we are granting our employees the additional holiday leave as well. CU Anschutz faculty and staff may take 20 hours of additional leave, from December 23, 2019 through January 1, 2020, in alignment with your unit’s operational needs as directed by its leadership. (This is beyond the scheduled CU Anschutz holidays of Dec. 24, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.) All units are required to be open on the normal non-holiday dates with at least essential personnel.
Normal leave policies will apply to the additional holiday administrative leave, which do not affect the operations of the hospitals or their clinics on campus. Faculty and staff assigned to work in any University of Colorado Hospital or Children’s Hospital Colorado space during this period, who are responsible for patient care and clinical operations, must report to work unless the specific hospital or clinic announces a change in operations. If you are required to work between Dec. 23 and Jan. 1 on days not currently designated as holidays, you may choose alternate administrative leave days before the end of the fiscal year on June 30, 2020, with your supervisor’s approval.
Questions from staff and non-clinical faculty should be directed to your unit’s Human Resources representative. Questions from clinical faculty should be directed to your school’s clinical faculty leadership.
Employees from consolidated units serving both campuses should follow the guidance from the campus consistent with their designated holiday schedule in MyLeave (or other time system). Employees from consolidated units on the Anschutz campus holiday schedule should follow the procedures outlined above for CU Anschutz employees.
We hope you enjoy the extra time off to relax and celebrate the holidays with friends and family. It is given with our heartfelt thanks for all that you do to make the CU Anschutz Medical Campus a wonderful place to work, learn and heal.
Best wishes for a happy, peaceful and safe holiday season,
Don Elliman
