Before transitioning to the Clinical Nurse Ethicist role, Devon's clinical background for the past 18 years has been in the Emergency Department at Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO), where she worked both as a bedside nurse and in the Associate Clinical Manager (ACM) role. During this time, she found a passion in ethics and encountered ethical issues in the care of patients and families prompting her to join the CHCO Ethics Liaison program and CHCO Ethics consult service and ultimately obtained a Graduate Certificate in Health Humanities and Ethics from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Center for Bioethics and Humanities.

Her work has centered around mitigating moral distress and fostering moral resilience, Ethics Liaison Program Coordinator, and she also participates in ethics education for New Grad Nurse Residency for CHCO.
