A Pride Point for Our Community

Note: View current CU Anschutz designations and rankings here.

Dear students, faculty and staff,

I am proud to share that today, the U.S. Department of Education recognized the consolidated University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus as a Hispanic-Serving Institution or HSI. This is great news for our campus community, and a point of pride for our university as we continue to dedicate ourselves to educating diverse future leaders in medicine and health.

HSI designation brings opportunities to our campus, the CU system and the State of Colorado, by making us eligible for new sources of federal funding with potential impact for student services, staffing and program building, institutional capacity building, research opportunities and more. Valuable resources like these stand to benefit our entire campus community, as we work to attract and retain talented students and faculty, deepen our work in diversity, equity and inclusion, and keep our programs at the forefront of innovation. Research faculty may find grant eligibility details here

We are one of only a few medical campuses in the country to receive HSI designation, and CU Denver | Anschutz is the only research university in Colorado to have done so. Statewide, our institution becomes just the fourth public four-year university to attain this status, along with Adams State University, Colorado State University Pueblo, and Metropolitan State University of Denver.

The benefits of HSI designation are many, but most importantly, this recognition is a testament to our continuing efforts to foster a rich and vibrant campus that reflects the people, families and communities we serve.
