Additional Holiday Leave

Dear colleagues,

As the holiday season approaches, I would like to once again express my gratitude for your tireless work and continued dedication to keeping the CU Anschutz Medical Campus moving forward. It is because of you that we have delivered on our mission amid very challenging circumstances, and I am tremendously proud of all we have achieved together.

Last week Governor Polis authorized 12 hours of extra holiday administrative leave for state employees, and we are granting our employees the additional leave as well. CU Anschutz faculty and staff members may take 12 hours of additional leave, from December 20, 2021, through December 31, 2021, in alignment with your unit’s operational needs as directed by its leadership. This leave is in addition to the scheduled CU Anschutz holidays of Dec. 23, Dec. 24 and Dec. 31.  All units are required to be open on the normal non-holiday dates with at least essential personnel.

Normal leave policies will apply to the additional holiday administrative leave, which do not affect the operations of the hospitals, their clinics on campus or our 24/7/365 campus operations. Faculty and staff assigned to work in any University of Colorado Hospital or Children’s Hospital Colorado space during this period who are responsible for patient care and clinical operations, or others who must work during this period, must report to work unless the specific hospital, clinic or business unit announces a change in operations. If you are required to work between Dec. 20 and Dec. 31 on days not currently designated as holidays, you may choose an alternate 12 hours of administrative leave time before the end of the fiscal year on June 30, 2021, with your supervisor’s approval.

Questions from staff and non-clinical faculty should be directed to your unit’s Human Resources representative. Questions from clinical faculty should be directed to your school’s clinical faculty leadership.

Employees from consolidated units serving both campuses should follow the guidance from the campus consistent with their designated holiday schedule in MyLeave or other time system.  Employees from consolidated units who are on the CU Anschutz holiday schedule should follow the procedures outlined above.

We hope you enjoy the extra time off this holiday season to rest, relax and recharge. Please accept our heartfelt thanks for all that you make possible at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus.

Best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season,

Don Elliman
