Unprecedented Times including Public Health Emergency

COAHEC is no longer operating under Unprecedented Times.

During unprecedented times related to public health, the COAHEC Program Office is guided by the direction of National and Colorado public health agencies; University of Colorado, the Anschutz Medical Campus directives and guidelines; the COAHEC mission, and the unique AHEC regional issues and concerns for the protection of all Anschutz Medical Campus students and COAHEC hosts.

We have returned to the Anschutz Medical Campus, and we continue to be vigilant.  What has not changed is our shared responsibility for safeguarding the health of our campus and the communities we serve.

COAHEC PO - Operational changes as of November 17, 2022

All faculty, staff, and students are working and learning in-person and on campus.

We all must continue to do our part including staying up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and boosters, staying home when sick, and testing for COVID-19 as needed.  As we head into the fall and winter, not only are COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations on the rise but so too are other communicable illnesses like flu, cold and respiratory viruses including RSV.

Colorado AHEC Program Office (COAHEC PO) personnel will remain vigilant, and are conducting business Monday - Friday either in the office, or from remote workstations.  COAHEC PO employees are scheduled to be in the office Tuesday -Thursday.

This is a very fluid situation. We will respond to changing AMC directives as quickly as we can under the circumstances, and keep you informed.

Housing Operations are operating per standard housing policy.

Housing Policy can be downloaded by clicking here:  Current COAHEC Housing Policy .

All information regarding COAHEC clinical training policies and procedures can be found here:  COAHEC Clinical Training

Per Chancellor Elliman's Nov 17, 2022 guidance:

"Recognizing that each of us taking responsibility for our own health is what keeps CU Anschutz moving forward, we are making several changes to our COVID-19 processes, effective immediately.
  • We will discontinue our centralized, mandatory COVID-19 self-reporting process.
  • Our COVID-19 Contact Tracing Team will shift its focus to providing information and guidance to our campus community.
  • Supervisors will no longer receive COVID-19 notifications from the Contact Tracing Team. It will be up to individual students and employees to contact their supervisors on missed classes or work due to illness.
  • While we are moving away from these formalized processes, please know help is available should you need it. We will continue to update the campus coronavirus website with COVID-19 protocols, guidance and resources.
  • Should conditions change, we may need to return to our centralized model.

Doing Your Part

What will not change is our shared responsibility for safeguarding the health of our campus community. Please continue to do your part: stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and boosters, stay home when sick, and test for COVID-19 as needed."
