Eligibility, Application and FAQ's

Students are selected based on academic and professional achievements and an interest in healthcare professions. We encourage first-generation college attendees, low-income/financial hardship students, U.S. veterans, and persons with a disability to apply.  

• Applicants must have 30 or more college credits before starting the program. 
• Applicants must be full-time students throughout the program.
• Students are not permitted to work part-time jobs or take any classes (exceptions for online classes may be granted on an individual basis) during the summer portion of the program.

• Minimum Overall GPA of 3.3 (preferred GPA of 3.5)
• Minimum Science GPA of 3.3 
• ​Two (2) recommendation forms
  
• ​​Submit unofficial transcripts from all institutions attended
• Must complete application by December 1, 2024 (the application will open on August 1, 2024)
• Interviews will be awarded based on application review

The UPP application is closed.  The application will open from August 1, 2024, to December 1, 2024.

Applications will be reviewed in December and January.  Selected participants will be notified at the end of January.

Applicants who are selected as finalists will be invited for an interview.

Financial compensation may be provided over the summer. The program offers scholarships for test preparation through Kaplan (i.e., MCAT, PCAT, DAT, GRE). 

The program is open to any student in any major interested in pursuing a career in health care.​

We do not favor any student application because they attend a University of Colorado institution or another institution. Students are selected based on academic and professional achievement and an interest in the healthcare professions. We seek students who have taken the most advantage of the opportunities given to them within the context of their institution.

UPP does not provide housing to participants. You will be required to find your own accommodations for the 8-10 week summer program.

No. UPP is 12 months. Students must be enrolled and meet all the requirements for the duration of the program. The program starts in August with an orientation, and students will participate in lectures, demonstrations, and an 8 - 10-week summer internship. Before the summer program, all fellows will be required to attend Saturday Academies once a month from August to May.​​
