GOOD TROUBLE AWARD

The Good Trouble Award (named in honor of the late Congressman and civil rights leader, John Lewis), recognizes University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus students, residents, trainees, staff, and faculty members, and also community members, who have routinely gone beyond their assigned roles to advocate for equity and justice in healthcare and in society.

Winners of the Good Trouble Award will have demonstrated a profound commitment to civic engagement, challenged existing practices or policies, inspired others and advocated for fairness, justice, and basic human rights.  Awardees may sometimes have "gone against the grain," demonstrating impactful leadership and a sustained commitment to being, in the words of John Lewis, "a headlight, not a taillight."

Awardees will have helped to further the ideals that John Lewis stood for when he wrote, "When you see something that is not right, not fair, not just, you have to speak up.  You have to say something; you have to do something."  The Good Trouble Award provides a $500 award.  Their names will also be placed on a permanent plaque that is displayed on the CU Anschutz Medical Campus.

Below you will find details on eligibility, selection criteria, and the nomination process.  The 2023 cycle is closed.
