Juneteenth, or June 19, marks the day when in 1865 a group of Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to announce that the enslaved Black people in the state were free, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been signed. At CU Anschutz, we are excited to celebrate Juneteenth and share the activities we have planned this year (please note, our campus has established Juneteenth as a floating holiday/personal observance day). On this page you will also find community events and resources about the day.
