Current Position: Associate Professor, University of Colorado Physical Therapy

Research Interests: My research primarily focuses on comparative effectiveness trials in individuals with degenerative knee conditions and following total knee arthroplasty.  Secondary research interests of mine are developing strategies to individualize health care using prognostic modeling and implementing research findings into clinical practice.

Research Interests: Exploring the association between visual, vestibular, and oculomotor deficits to fatigue in people with Parkinson’s disease.

Research Interests: Clinical biomechanics in patients undergoing joint reconstruction and the effects wearable technology have on correcting movement pattern abnormalities.

Current Position: Assistant Professor, Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science and the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging, University of California, San Francisco

Research Interests: Understand the interactions between lower extremity movement patterns and tissue dysfunction that impair older adults and reduce their responsiveness to interventions. With lines of research focused on both characterizing and intervening on the negative musculoskeletal effects of diabetes on the foot and knee, the long-term goals of this work are to improve the early detection of negative structural and functional effects of disease, improve the rate of recovery of clinically meaningful outcomes, and prevent the occurrence of secondary injuries or conditions.

Research Interests: Rehabilitation of older adults after acute hospitalization

PhD, 2019

Research Interests: 1) understanding the causes of deficits in function that occur in older adults following hospitalization, 2) exploring the barriers to practice change and the uptake of evidence based practice in post-acute care (home health and skilled nursing facilities), 3) developing and refining multi-modal and interdisciplinary interventions to maximize patient outcomes following hospitalization, 4) utilizing such clinical research results to develop clinical practice guidelines specific to post-acute care settings, and 5) employing strategies for implementation and dissemination of study results to post-acute settings nationwide.

Current Position: Program Specialist, Rocky Mountain MIRECC for Suicide Prevention, US Department of Veterans Affairs

Research Interests: Investigating the role of diet and diet-related attitudes/behaviors on Multiple Sclerosis-related quality of life and other disease factors in male Veterans with MS. Investigating the relationship between the microbiome and mental health outcomes in Veterans. Evaluating the effects of a powered exoskeleton device on psychosocial function in Veterans with diminished ambulatory function.

Current Position: Assistant Professor, University of Colorado Physical Therapy

Research Interests: My clinical research focuses on investigating human movement patterns and muscle performance during functional activity, and ways physical therapists can intervene to optimize movement quality and therefore physical function and quality of life for patients following total hip replacement. Second, my educational research focuses on exploring educational methods related to teaching evidence-based practice and clinical reasoning for entry-level DPT students and exploring the use of technology on educational outcomes.

Current Position: Assistant Professor, University of Montana

Research Interests: Focused on improving shared decision-making and personalized care in clinical practice, through the use of informatics and novel data science applications. Specifically, I am interested in using analytic techniques to help patients and clinicians better understand diagnosis and prognosis, as well as to assist in monitoring patient progress throughout an episode of care. I enjoy collaborating with a variety of different patient populations in this research: people with peripheral vascular disease, people with total knee arthroplasty, people with lower limb amputation, and children at risk of developmental delay.

Current Position: Postdoctoral Fellow, University of Utah College of Health

Research Interests: Understanding the neuromuscular and physical functioning deficits present following lower extremity surgery or trauma, improving the practice management of physiologic changes occurring after TKA, specifically related to lower extremity swelling and edema, implementing clinical data collection methods to improve individual estimates of recovery following TKA.

Research Interests: Movement and behavior change in the context of the chronic condition of dysvascular lower limb amputation

Current Position: Assistant Professor, University of Toledo, School of Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences

Research Interests: Biomechanics of movement in older adult patients with diabetes and dysvascular amputation. Dr. Murray’s research aims to understand the impact of movement dysfunction on mobility and physical activity and to develop interventions aimed at improving activity and participation in older adult patients.
