Presented by: 

Phil Ake is a Senior Manager in the New Product Development Project Management Office for the Surgical Innovations division of Medtronic.  Phil begin his career in medical devices as an Investigator for the FDA focusing on audits of Medical Device manufacturers.  He joined Medtronic in 2005 and has held a number of different roles including Regulatory, Clinical, Quality and Project Management.  Phil holds a BS in Biology with a Minor in Anatomy and Neuroscience from Colorado State University and a MBA from the University of Colorado Denver. 

Nancy Sauer is the Director of Regulatory Affairs for Medtronic’s Surgical Innovations business in Boulder Colorado. In that capacity she helps to establish regulatory strategies for bringing our surgical products to market around the world. She has over 30 years experience in regulatory affairs for medical devices and diagnostics. Before coming to Medtronic in 2013, she worked with a number of small medical device manufacturing companies and start-ups.

Erin Wehrly is currently a US Commercial Marketing Manager for the Advanced Energy business within Surgical Innovations at Medtronic.  She has been with Medtronic for over 10 years and has held a number of different roles in Product Marketing, Marketing Operations and Sales Operations. The majority of her tenure has been spent in product development, but has full cradle to grave experience.  She was responsible for the LigaSure™ technology roadmap, worked on the development of LigaSure™ Hook, and drove the BiZact™ tonsillectomy device from concept to commercialization, through the product’s launch in June of 2017.  Most recently she’s been focused on market development, responsible for driving increased penetration of the BiZact tonsillectomy device, while finding new opportunities for growth with currently commercialized devices.
