Commencement FAQ's

All spring commencement activities take place on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO.

Update as of May 19, 2022: All students, employees and campus visitors involved with Spring 2022 Commencement activities must wear masks when indoors Thursday, May 26, and Friday, May 27. A limited supply of masks will be available at the building entrances, and guests are encouraged to bring their own mask if possible. 

 

Attendees are still asked to be vaccinated at the time of the ceremonies. Unvaccinated graduates and guests are asked to mask and distance.

 


As all ceremonies will be conducted outdoors, graduates may invite as many guests as they wish.



Yes, the main commencement ceremony and all convocations will be available to view remotely. Visit https://cuanschutz.edu/commencement on the appropriate day to find the link for the ceremony you wish to view.

 

Yes, registering for the ceremony confirms your participation and provides you with information about renting your cap and gown.

For all graduates other than MDs, registering to participate in the commencement ceremony is a two-step process. The first step is to register and confirm your participation. After completing your registration, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to the Herff Jones website where you can rent your cap and gown, as well as purchase commencement memorabilia.

MD graduates request regalia during registration and do not need to complete the second step of placing an order with Herff Jones

Diplomas will be mailed out automatically to the mailing address on file after degrees have been awarded. There is currently no diploma pick up at the Office of the Registrar. Please ensure your mailing address in your student record is up to date. Please visit our guide on how to Update your Student Profile . Diplomas will take about 5-8 weeks to receive from Paradigm. If you have any questions, please contact the Registrar’s Office at: Registrar@cuanschutz.edu


 

Parking is limited on campus and attendees are highly encouraged to consider carpooling, utilizing ridesharing services, or taking public transportation .

Thursday

Free parking is available in designated lots on campus.

The Henderson Parking Structure is recommended for attendees of the CHA/PA and Public Health ceremonies. Those attending the Skaggs School of Pharmacy convocation should park in the Georgetown  or Julesburg lots.

Friday

Free parking is available in all visitor lots on campus. We still advise attendees to park in lots closest to their intended ceremonies to ease congestion and facilitate movement around campus.

The Henderson Parking Structure is recommended for attendees of the Dental Medicine and Nursing ceremonies. If you are attending the School of Medicine ceremony, please aim for the Georgetown and Julesburg lots on the east side of campus.

Due to the relocation of the Graduate School ceremony to Central Green, attendees of that ceremony should park in the Evergreen Lot.

ADA Parking

The Ignacio and Kiowa lots are reserved for guests who have difficulty walking long distances. Golf carts will be available to shuttle guests from these lots to the various ceremonies and back again. No handicapped stickers or placards are required to park in these lots. Parking attendants will direct any guests who need close-in parking to these locations.

Graduates will be asked during the registration process to identify any disability-related accommodations that may be needed to participate fully in the commencement ceremony. Sign language interpreters can be arranged as needed. Service animals ​(not emotional support animals) are permitted at the ceremony and must be pre-communicated during registration for planning purposes. 

Resources are available to assist guests to and from ceremonies. Additional services are available upon request.
